What we can learn from the "collaboration generation"

Post contributed by Matt Proctor

I have been doing a lot of thinking about collaboration technology and work styles and how their evolution has been influenced by the multiple generations in today's workforce. While technology is always influenced by culture, it’s extra pronounced with collaboration technology, because it closely mirrors the way we have learned to communicate.

Why I've Abandoned My Inbox

I have 58,000 unread emails in my inbox. Yes, you read that correctly — five-eight-zero-zero-zero.

Yes, like all CEOs, I am a busy person. But that’s not the whole story. The main reason my inbox is overflowing is that, for most work-related projects and wireless meetings, I believe that email has outlived its usefulness. And here at Prysm, we have created a superior solution.

How the Tools You Use Impact Your Success

Contributed by Dana Corey

Technological advances increase productivity and create a competitive advantage. But what if technology was forcing you to work in ways that made you less effective? Worse still, what if technology was causing your company to lose in the marketplace?

When it comes to the process of how we make decisions, hold meetings, and design products, that might be exactly what is happening: limitations in technology force us to coax decision making (inherently a circuitous process) into an artificially linear one, and the fallout could be expensive.

The Rise of the Customer Experience Center

Contributed by Dana Corey

"You've got to start with the customer experience and work back to the technology — not the other way around." –Steve Jobs

Leading enterprises have long understood that one of the most powerful ways to attract and engage prospects (especially executive decision-makers) is to provide them with a visually impressive, immersive demonstration of their products or services in an executive briefing center (EBC) video wall. These centers can be used to give your customers a first-hand experience of both current and future offerings in an environment that allows your company to really "wow" your customers.

Four Ways to Keep Workers Engaged

Unless you're running an extremely enlightened workplace, there's a very strong chance (87%, or nearly nine out of 10) that your employees are sleepwalking through their work days1 — bored and disengaged. The infographic below highlights four ways that research has shown to increase worker engagement, fulfillment, and productivity.

Reality check: Is your organization as "progressive" as you think?

Thanks to mobile technology, we have a lot more freedom to decide where and when we work these days. Your backyard can become an office (yay, wifi!). You can vary your work schedule from day to day— from the early shift to the late shift, or anywhere in between. You even can have a full-time job in another country, making office visits via Skype.

Workplace Re-Imagined: Merging the Experience for In-Office & Remote Employees

There is no doubt about it—the workplace is changing. The traditional office environment, which was once made up of siloed cubicles and conference rooms, seems to be dissolving, taking with it the notion that work must be done in person at the office.
