Video: Better Data Visualization Means Bigger Market Wins

Posted by Brianna Politzer

Data is your company’s most valuable asset, and leveraging it effectively can mean the difference between being a market leader or a laggard.

Amazon is the perfect case in point. While there’s a perception that Amazon has the lowest prices, that is not always the case. In fact, Amazon analyzes data from its millions of daily transactions—as well as information on pricing and product offerings from across the internet—and adjusts them in real-time to offer the most competitive prices on its most popular products. Less-popular products, or those that support the bigger-ticket products (HDMI cables, for example), can sometimes be priced higher than those of its competition. The net result? It is now the world’s eighth-largest retailer.

The problem for most of us is that we don’t have access to the hidden gems locked inside our own companies' data. Sales might keep numbers in Salesforce, while R&D might keep its figures in Excel spreadsheets. Marketing information might reside in the department's own automation systems.

The only way to turn this siloed data into diamonds is to expose it to the light.

With Prysm Visual Workplace, users can view multiple sources of data side by side—regardless of where the data resides or in what applications—facilitating “what-if” analyses and real-time business-scenario planning, as well as uncovering insights that can cut costs or drive new revenue opportunities.
