LPD technology delivers unmatched performance for State Grid Corporation of China

SAN JOSE, Calif. – March 27, 2014 – Prysm Inc., a privately held designer and manufacturer of video wall systems that deliver immersive and engaging user experiences, today announced State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), has chosen its Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology for a large video wall installation at its Jiangsu Electric Power Company, in Nanjing, China. The curved display stands 80ft (24m) wide by 11ft (3m) high and is the centerpiece of a new state-of-the-art facility responsible for monitoring the electrical grid system of China’s Jiangsu province. SGCC is China’s top power company and is ranked No. 7 on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest corporations

SGCC sought to create one of most advanced network operations centers (NOC) in the world. The video wall solution had to meet the organization’s extremely strict requirements for image quality, scalability and sustainability. Systems integrator, Beijing Daheng Innovative Technology Company, quickly identified an LPD video wall from Prysm as the ideal fit for the project.

“It was essential for us to find a solution at the forefront of technology and one that met SGCC’s demanding needs,” said Yao Hong, Daheng’s Director of Sales. “The Prysm video wall is bezel-free, and delivers astounding image quality and ultra-wide 178° viewing angles.  These attributes combined with the tremendous scalability of LPD technology provide an ideal display solution for the command and control environment.”

The Prysm video wall uses 75% less power than competing large format display systems, providing a sustainable solution and lowering the total cost of ownership. It offers superior reliability, supports 24x7 operation and requires no consumables.

“We are extremely excited to have been chosen for this prestigious opportunity,” said Sidney Rittenberg, Prysm’s VP and General Manager for Greater China. “To be associated with one of the most impressive energy-based command and control facilities in the world is truly an honor. ”

The video wall consists of 432 (48 by 9) LPD tiles. Each tile offers a 427 x 320 resolution, giving the SGCC installation a resolution of 20,496 x 2,880 pixels. The wall is 900ft2 (84m2) with a two-degree curve, offering an impressive digital canvas for the display of information and an immersive viewing experience from anywhere in the room.

LPD technology uses solid state, ultraviolet lasers to deliver brilliant images and enables video walls that can scale to sizes over 100 feet wide while maintaining image uniformity over the entire display area. Multiple users can interact simultaneously with Prysm video walls through touch, motion sensing and their mobile devices.  Recent Prysm video wall installations include: Infoblox Silicon Valley Headquarters, Wallenberg Auditorium at the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) building in Stockholm, and Beijing TV’s new state-of-the-art broadcast studio.  Learn more at prysm.com/video-walls.
