State-of-the-Art Facility Sets New Benchmark for Collaborative Learning
San Jose, CA | June 10, 2014
Prysm, Inc., a privately held designer and manufacturer of video wall systems that deliver immersive and engaging user experiences, today announced the installation of two video wall solutions at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Each of the two new video walls measures 23ft wide by 5ft high and is the centerpiece of a “smart” learning auditorium in the all-new Terry Fuller Petroleum Engineering Research Building. This $22.8 million facility integrates formal teaching environments with hands-on practical applications using only the most cutting-edge technologies. It features over 42,000 square feet of modern classrooms and laboratories where engineering students from around the world develop deep subject-area knowledge in petroleum exploration and production.
“Texas Tech wanted a ‘best-in-class’ research building that supported the university’s collaborative learning environment,” said Brian Richard, vice president and science and technology team leader at Kirksey Architecture. “Prysm helped make this a reality with digital displays tailored for visual collaboration. The large digital canvas and impressive capabilities of each video wall make this installation simply astounding.”
“It was a great honor to be selected as the AV design and integration company for Texas Tech University’s beautiful new state-of-the-art facility,” said Brian Wagnon, vice president of Lubbock Audio Visual, Inc. “Partnering with Prysm ensured that we could provide the most advanced display solutions enabling a new level of learning and collaboration for the staff and students in the Petroleum Engineering Department."
Following an evaluation process, Prysm video walls were chosen over other well-known display vendors. Mark Basford, vice president and senior design consultant at 4b Technology Group said, “Of the several industry-leading manufacturers considered, Prysm differentiated itself with superior image quality, innovative product engineering and low power consumption, all on a virtually seamless video wall.”
Another key benefit to Texas Tech is that Prysm video walls offer unmatched energy efficiency and run cool to the touch. As a result, the university did not need an upgrade to its heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that other display technologies would require. Texas Tech realized immediate savings on its infrastructure investment and even greater savings long-term through reduced energy costs.
“Prysm video walls have transformed the display industry, delivering an unrivalled level of engagement,” said Amit Jain, president and chief executive officer of Prysm. “Whether for higher education or corporate meeting spaces, the collaboration capabilities of our video walls set a new standard for greater learning, higher productivity and faster decision making. For universities, businesses and governments around the globe, Prysm video walls are the solution of choice.”
