Laser Phosphor Display technology’s unsurpassed sustainability aligns with university’s environmental leadership

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jan. 20, 2014 – Qatar University, one of the most prominent institutions of higher learning in the Middle East, has chosen Prysm's Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology for its College of Business and Economics, installing a 13ft wide by 8ft high (4m by 2.25m) video wall for its multi-purpose meeting hall. In addition, Qatar University has awarded the systems integrator, Techno Q, four additional sites where identical Prysm video walls will be installed during the first half of 2014.

The university has an ongoing focus on sustainability and has played a leadership role in preserving the environment through solutions that prioritize the use of environmentally friendly materials and technologies. Techno Q, the systems integrator on the project, quickly recognized that Prysm's LPD video walls were a perfect fit for meeting the institution's needs.

Ibrahim Saad, Head of Sales at Techno Q, commented:

"The revolutionary nature of Prysm's LPD video walls and their incredible eco credentials are what attracted us to this product. An LPD video wall uses 75% less power than legacy projection solutions previously used in an installation of this kind. With its unsurpassed energy efficiency, Prysm LPD technology lowers cost of ownership, helping to meet the sustainability goals of the university."

LPD video walls will provide the College of Business and Economics with an immersive digital canvas for lectures, meetings and corporate events. It will display video and user-generated content, such as presentations, spreadsheets, design layouts, maps and more. The LPD platform can also be enhanced to support a wide range of interactivity, including touch, annotation and mobile device interaction.

Tanvir Osama, Prysm's VP of Sales for the Middle East and India, said this:

"It's our first installation in Qatar, and also our first collaboration with Techno Q. LPD technology is a great display solution for higher education. Its ultra-wide 178° viewing angles, along with having the smallest video wall seams in the industry, provide a platform that delivers an immersive and compelling presentation experience. Everyone gets a great view of the content no matter where they are in the conference hall or auditorium. We look forward to many future installations in partnership with Techno Q."

LPD technology uses solid state, ultraviolet lasers to deliver stunning image quality and brightness. The extremely energy efficient LPD video walls run cool requiring no upgrades in electrical or HVAC infrastructure. Scalable to over 100 feet wide, multiple users can interact simultaneously with Prysm video walls through touch, motion sensing and their mobile devices.
